Mon-Tues Class Midterm Exam (10)
The ESL speaking midterm exam is worth 20% of your final grade. It will have 4 parts:
- vocabulary review (1 min)
- book summary (1-2 min)
- short story: boat and goat or man on street (1 min)
- synthesize information and present an evaluation (1-2 min)
Total time = about 6 minutes

Question 3 (1-2 minutes)
- speak fluently about a short story

- use long, full sentences with lots of details
- expect follow up questions
Question 4 (1-2 minutes)
- Summarize the 3 issues you heard and and discussed in your small group work.
- Define the key concepts; what are the pros and cons of each issue? Do you agree with them?
- How are these 3 issues connected?
- What does this mean for your future?

There are no classes during exam week.
You choose one time for your test. Sign your name on the test schedule paper.
Hour 2
Vocabulary Review (20)
This jigsaw activity will help you review and remember 48 words. Explain a list of words to your partner. When your partner says the correct word, he or she writes it down on the paper. When you finish you should have 48 words on your paper.

Question 4 Grammar (1 min)
You will get 2 different grammar questions
Part 1. Past tense verbs. I give you a verb. You make a past tense questions and answer. You will get 2-3 verbs.

- What did you cook yesterday?
- I cooked a steak at home yesterday.
Part 2. Like and look like. You will get one like question. You must answer with details and at east 2 sentences.

- What sports do you play?

Question 5 Topic B: Free time
- How much time do you have each week for doing these things?
- Why do you like doing these activities?
- How did you start doing this activity at first?
- Is there some other hobby or sport you would like to try? Why?
- How has the way people spend their free time changed over the years?
